I went to reboot the server and it's not coming back up on it's own. Usually not a big deal, just requires a tech in the DC to hit the power button. Obviously some "optimizations" that were made yesterday did not behave as expected. I will probably reverse them when the server comes back up. This will take time for the reversal processes to complete. Depending on some other things I may complete something else that I did not have time to do yesterday as well. We will see. I am not about to give a time frame since lately they have been way the fuck off.
Who knows, maybe it's time for a new server. Whatever. I will post back here as I have more info.

Well, I am "in queue". I have to run a process after the work is done but I have to go to sleep. When I wake up in 5 hours I will run that process and hope it finishes before I have to run out for work. If not I will let it run and try to call Osi and have him turn the site back on. If not, it will have to wait until early evening. :( |

I hate this shit. :) Server managment was supposed to do something that was not done so the repair process is hanging again. I took and uploaded a backup just before the process was run should I have to restore it. This will take a bit but my downtime estimates as of late are way off so I will not bother. Will update as info is available.

Fuck it. Since we have been down most of the day I am taking some time to mount a seperate backup drive in the server and do some partition resizing. More info soon.

Well I actually went out with some friends with instructions to my server people to do one last thing and that they had 5 hours to do it....I am back now and it is not done yet. I just sent them a ticket that if it is not done by midnight that we will have to do it another time. So we will be back in 30-40 min one way or another. |

I don't have details but there looks to have been another power outage. Unfortunately, I have to run to work again. This time I was able to submit a ticket before going to work so they are working on getting the server powered back on. The other good news it that is there is an issue like last time I have a solid backup from 6AM this morning. Let's just hope it comes back without issues this time. |

| Well, it's 4:30PM EST and the pruning is still going strong. This is a first for me so apparently I underestimated the time that it would take.
It's gotta be done especially since it's already started.  It's going to run as long as it takes. Since I am not really sure if it will finish in 3 minutes or three hours, check back later.  |

| It's going smoothly thus far. I wiped any user that has not logged in in the last year. About 20k users. I am in the process of pruning posts from 2005-2006. That equates to over 72k threads and who knows how many posts. The process is still running but I am not seeing any problems. I have to go pick up my kid so as the smart guy comment states, at least 4PM.  |

| It's always smart to run an optimize/repair on the DB backup that I restored but for some reason even leaving the process for 10 hours running it would not finish. So fuck it hope it works out.
I will be pruning our current post database next week to bring it to a manageable size. |

One of the reasons the restore takes so long is the database is about 2GB and my upload is barely 10k/sec...lol. Once it's up, it takes a good amount of time to rebuild itself from the backup. |
